What is a good affiliate commission rate for B2B SaaS?
The short answer
Most B2B SaaS affiliate programs pay 20–30% of subscription revenue, usually for the first 12 months. PartnerStack found its top vendors averaged a 23.5% commission, with ERP software at 30–35%. Lower rates paid for longer can be worth as much. SalesARC pays referral partners 10% of recurring monthly fees.
The market rate, from the data
The best public benchmark comes from PartnerStack, the platform many B2B SaaS companies use to run their partner programs. Its Research Lab analysis of the top 25 vendors on its network in 2023, published in March 2024, found an average commission payout of 23.53%. The highest-performing offers, measured by total commissions paid, were 20%, 25% and 30%, and some categories ran higher: ERP software paid 30–35% on average.
Published programs from sales software vendors in October 2026 sit right in that band:
| Program | Rate | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| HubSpot Affiliate | 30% | Up to one year |
| Pipedrive Affiliate | 20% (30% at Growth tier) | First 12 months |
| lemlist Affiliate | 25% | 12 months |
| Apollo Affiliate | 15% monthly plans, 20% annual | First 12 months |
| SalesARC Referral Partners | 10% of recurring monthly fees | Current terms on the /partners page |
So a "good" affiliate rate in B2B SaaS, judged by the market, is 20–30% for a year. Anything above 30% is generous or promotional; anything below 15% needs another reason to be attractive, such as a longer payout period, a higher price point or a product that keeps customers longer.
Why the rate alone is the wrong comparison
The rate is one of four numbers that decide what a referral pays you:
Price. Ten percent of a $1,500-a-month product beats 30% of a $40-a-month seat. B2B tools range from per-seat plans to platforms with services built in, so compare dollars, not percentages.
Duration. Most affiliate programs above stop at 12 months. A program that pays a lower rate for as long as the customer stays can pay more in total, but only if customers really stay.
Base. Commissions are usually calculated on what the vendor actually collects. Apollo's terms, for example, exclude taxes, refunds, chargebacks and services such as implementation and training.
Retention. This is the one that changes everything. If half the customers you refer cancel within six months, a 12-month commission is really a six-month commission. Products that become part of how the customer runs the business keep paying; tools that sit on the side get cut.
A simple way to compare two offers
Estimate expected payout per referral: monthly price × rate × the number of months you expect the customer to stay, capped at the program's duration.
- Offer A: $300 a month, 30%, 12-month cap, customer stays eight months: $300 × 0.30 × 8 = $720.
- Offer B: $700 a month, 10%, customer stays 30 months: $700 × 0.10 × 30 = $2,100, provided the program pays for that long.
These are illustrations, not benchmarks; use the real price your client would pay and an honest guess at how long they would stay.
Payout timing is part of the rate
When you get paid matters too, especially if referral income is meant to be steady. Pipedrive locks each month's commissions on the 7th, two months after the sale, and pays on the 13th through PartnerStack. Apollo pays commissions 30 days after it receives the customer's payment. HubSpot pays Solutions Partners quarterly, about 45 days after the quarter ends, and forfeits payments if the required paperwork is not submitted within six months. A program that pays monthly and promptly is worth a little more than one with the same rate that pays late or in lumps.
If you are setting the rate, not earning it
Vendors designing a program face the reverse question. The PartnerStack data suggests 20–30% is where partners expect to start. A vendor paying less, or paying only on part of the bill, should be clear about why and about what the partner gets in return, such as a longer payout period, a higher-value product or less work required from the partner. Partners compare offers carefully, and a rate buried in terms they find later damages the relationship.
Where SalesARC fits
Our referral program is a fair example of a below-market headline rate, so here is the honest version. SalesARC pays 10% of each referred customer's recurring monthly fees; one-time fees such as the Playbook build are excluded. SalesARC Prospect starts at $199/mo and ArcClaw™ Prospecting Agents at $499/mo, so run the payout math above on the plan your client would actually buy before you compare us with a 30% offer. The product is a sales system that produces pipeline every week, which is what keeps customers paying. Read the full terms and apply at SalesARC Referral Partners.
